1. Behind a social network service by Nadia Palma.
she showed a very good presentation. However, I think it was not a micro-lesson, it was a lecture of how prevent Internet frauds, when we sign contracts without reading the policy, this happened when we open an account in websites such us: Facebook, Fotolog, among others. In addition, she showed very good tips of how children can prevent problems because of the irresponsibility when we sign a document without reading previously and also the consequences of publishing private articles or photos on the Internet.

I liked her presentation in terms of content’s management and her use of examples and videos. Furthermore, her tone of voice was appropriate, but she should have been worrier about her grammar in the ppt, because there were a lot of grammar mistakes and some slides had too much information inside.

2. Slang by Jorge Pierola.

This presentation was more similar to a micro-teaching than the other.

He used a wide range of examples, very affirmative definitions and excellent exercises. The exercises were in order to practice the previous teaching slangs. I found it spectacular, because the exercises were suitable for the level and appropriate to the topic.

His tone of voice was excellent, but he should have had more eyes contact with the audience and used more the teaching space. But anyway it was a very good presentation.

Plot: The film is set during the UK miners' strike (1984–1985) and centers on the life of Billy (Jamie Bell), his love of dance and his hope to become a professional ballet dancer. Billy's father (Gary Lewis) and brother Tony (Jamie Draven) are both out on strike. Billy's mother is no longer alive and Billy and Tony's nan (Jean Heywood) also lives with the family.

Billy is taken to the boxing gym by his father, but he finds out that he doesn't really like the sport. Part of the boxing gym is used by a ballet class because their usual studio in the basement of the sports centre is being used as a soup kitchen for the striking miners. He is drawn in by the ballet teacher (Julie Walters), and with her help, secretly starts taking ballet class. Billy's father finds out after the boxing teacher makes comment of Billy's absence. Billy is then forbidden to dance but continues secretly.

As a consequence of Tony being arrested during a confrontation between police and striking miners, Billy misses an important audition for the Royal Ballet School. His ballet teacher goes to their house to tell his father about the missed opportunity. Billy's father and brother, fearing that Billy will be seen as a "poof", become outraged at the idea of him becoming a professional ballet dancer.

Once having seen Billy dance however, his father understands that ballet is Billy's passion; and he takes him to an audition for the Ballet himself. Billy is accepted to the Royal Ballet, and moves out on his own at age 11 to attend the school.

The film ends with a scene that takes place about 14 years later, where Billy has finally reached his goal through dancing: the older Billy (dancer/actor Adam Cooper)

takes the stage to perform the lead in Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake.

Context: The 1984-85 miners’ strike in the United Kingdom plays an important role in Billy Elliot. In its treatment of the strikes, the miners who continued to work (the “scabs”) and the role play of police. In 1984 the National Coal Board declares it was going to close 20 pits, which would mean 20.000 miners would lose theirs jobs. On March 12th, 1984, the president of the National Union of Miners (NUM), Arthur Scargil, called a national strike against the pit closures. Many miners were involved in picketing and protesting. The strike was actually illegal as the NUM leaders had not held a vote of NUM members; this meant the police were able

to intervene, allowing strike-breakers to return to work. As a result, there was a lot of anger and violence on the picket lines. The miners were themselves divided over whether to strike or continue working, and eventually the NUM members split and a new union for miners was formed. We can see this tension among the miners on the picket lines in Billy Elliot.

Colloquialism:

  1. Poof: an offensive word for a homosexual man
  2. Scab: a worker who refuses to join a strike or take the place ob somebody on strike.

Powerful ideas and Values:

  1. Perseverance
  2. Passion for ideals
  3. Dreams
  4. Gratitude
  5. Friendship
  6. Recognition of achievements
  7. Talent
  8. Hope
  9. Discrimination

Personal opinion:

Billy Elliot is a beautiful film which is focused on the story of a child called Billy, who despite the difficulties in his life, he was able to achieve his dream and to become a professional ballet dancer.

I think it is a film very well developed; even it makes me feel many nice feelings. For instance, there was a scene in which Michael, who is Billy’s best friend, gives to Billy a kiss, and Billy saw him with surprise. In that moment Billy asked him that if he is gay, and also Billy told him that he considered himself a man. In that scene, I laughed a lot. Another scene was when Jackie Elliot (the Billy’s father) realizes the Billy’s talent for dancing; as a result Jackie Elliot wants to be able to can afford an important school of dance for Billy. In order to achieve that dream, Jackie Elliot returns to the mine, despite of they were on strike. As a consequence of that Jackie Elliot had to put up the other miner’s insults. Even the eldest son tried to stop him but Jackie Elliot justified that he wanted to achieve the Billy’s dream which is to become a professional dancer. That scene made me cry so much.

The emotions in the movies is very necessary, I must say that the film is really sweet. However, each scene transmits an incredible hardness, a hardness of love and tenderness.

But the most exciting of all is that a child who had a different dream, supported by a father who at the end realized his son’s talent, very bravely faces the people’s criticisms and accepted his son’s dream.

Finally, the Billy’s neighbours help him saving money in order that Billy can go to the Academy of dance. It is just an amazing expression of solidarity.

That was beautiful film.

1. The game as an educational tool by Maria Francisca Nuñez:

This micro-lesson was very good!.

First, she mentioned some definitions according to Plato and Albert Einstein, which were very good, and then she gave us a brief explanation of what a game is and when we can use it.

Finally, she let us play a game similar to “who wants to be a millionaire?” The best of her presentation was the use of the teaching space and her tone of voice.

Education 2020 carries out a consultation to citizen to know their opinion about the movement proposals.

you can see de complete article here:

http://latercera.com/contenido/657_180194_9.shtml

Among the proposals the most remarkable are: the creation of an international program in charge of preparing principals for a better management of schools, a law project that improve the educational professional careers and improve the status of teachers given many to teachers who have excellence and for good students who want to study pedagogy.

I consider very well the proposals, because they are necessary due to the little preparation that some principals have to manage an educational establishment is bad for the education of the thousands of children who are in formation, they have to improve their knowledge in educational management in order to gain the so desirable international standards in education.

It is also fundamental that salaries to be increased for teachers who are dedicated with their work and who have good results because it is not enough with to do a good job also we have to give the 200 % more, it will be a motivation for young people who want to study pedagogical careers.

I think it is also remarkable a movement like this, since the educational work in Chile has not a great support from anybody but indeed many demands. To achieve these demands it is fundamental improvements now, in many educational areas such as: educational law changes, infrastructure, materials, etc. This movement is responsible for making them known to the society and proposes practical solutions.

As a future teacher I am very grateful for the creation of these movements which look after the development of a country in term of education.

I could not go to class, because I was sick with stomach ache, but I'll be comments according to the themes chosen for the presentations, because I could not appreciate my classmates’ performance.

1. Tools for teaching English by Maria Ormeño.
Teachers in general must adapt to the changes that are arising in the society. For that reason, we should change the way of teaching according to the necessities of nowadays. We have to take advantage of the variety of technological tools which were designed in order to obtain easier the learning process. Today is no longer enough to teach to students using only a textbook, because it is boring. We can be more interactive teachers using the Internet, the data show and power point’s presentations as well. In that manner we can improve the education’s quality. Furthermore, using tools that students manage, they go to participate and learn more in classes.

2. Only English movement by Paula Villaseca:

it is a political movement that proposes the use of English as the only official language in the United States of America. The movement followers argue that the formalization of English will increase opportunities to learn and speak English for many immigrants in the United States.
Although all government‘s federal documents are written in English in US, the law does not specify the use of English as a official Language; although most States do it locally.

I agree that United States is a country with a large number of immigrants, where many of them are Latin American people whose native language is Spanish. And when they arrive in EEUU in search of new opportunities, they have to learn English, because this language gives them access to best benefits. Because, It is important that there is an official language, especially in USA because English is part of the culture of USA. Therefore foreign people must adapt themselves to the country that they are arriving and learn the language of the country as a minimum.

On the other hand, the Microteaching’s topic is important for general knowledge, but it is not essential for me as a teacher in Chile, unless that I have the possibility of to work in USA.

1. How TV affects teenagers by Maria Luz Ogaz:

I found this presentation very good. The first video that she used was spectacular to engage the audience. It was one of the best videos that I have seen, it was undoubtedly surprising. TV everyday has more space in our life; therefore it is not only very important to know the damage in the children’s behaviour that produces the exposure to this, but also to know how to handle the exposure to TV. Knowing measures to teach so that children learn bout how watch TV in a better way, because nowadays, they are most exposed to it and they are who absorb the bad behaviours that the TV transmits, also to know the strategies that we can use as teachers in order to teach how watch television without the imitation of bad things.

Maria Luz made an excellent presentation in terms of management, space and confidence in the topic.

2. Management Strategies by Romina Bozan:

This micro-lesson was good in terms of management of the topic, fluency and content, but what I found very weak were the audio-visual aids and the management of space, because I consider it a boring presentation in terms of catching the audience's attention. However, I must emphasize that the subject is important and it was well intended for us as futures teachers.
The strategies which she showed in order to solve the discipline problems are consistent according to the Chilean teacher’s reality. If we apply these strategies and also adapt them to our classrooms, I am sure that we will have good results.

3. Studying abroad by Camilo Opazo:

This micro- lesson was very well structured, with good contents, but it was bad in the use of visual aids, because the landscapes’ pictures that he used as backgrounds in the ppt were detractors in the presentation. Moreover, the presentation was longer than the others, and also I believe that it was not necessary to take so long to speak about the TOEFL test, because it is relevant to know it, but it is not necessary many details, because I lost the focus on the main theme. However, Camilo was very self-confident and his presentation was well entrusted with a very good topic management and control of the audience.
